Nibbles: Parthenon Diner
People may say it is just a diner, but diners make me happy. At a diner, I can always find something on the menu I want to eat. I never worry about getting there late, there is usually always a table. I never have to worry about mortgaging my home while waiting for the bill. Club sandwiches, turkey dinners with mashed potatoes and gravy, and, when I was much younger, breakfast at midnight. These are all things that make me happy. So, when I saw that the Parthenon Diner on Route 1 in Old Saybrook had changed hands, I was worried. The new owners have made changes. But here is the thing: the club sandwiches include real, thick slices of turkey, like the turkey you get when you make a turkey at home. On top of that, the sweet potato fries taste like real sweet potatoes. I once ordered a turkey sandwich with slices of avocado, and the slices were perfectly ripe. And iced coffee, maybe all the time. I am happy.
