Which is better, the book or the film?
An upcoming From Page to Screen event at the Henry Carter Hull Library, 10 Killingworth Library, Clinton on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m. will help fans of Penelope Fitzgerald’s The Bookshop decide.
The free screening of the 2017 drama based on the novel tells the story of a free-spirited widow who risks everything to open a bookshop in a conservative, coastal town. She is met with surprise, opposition, and intrigue.
The film by Isabel Coixet stars Bill Nighy, Emily Mortimer, and Patricia Clarkson, rated PG, and runs for 113 minutes. Popcorn will be provided by Chips’ Pub III.
