Butter by Dorie Greenspan
“Butter is better,” Julia Child used to say. I know this because I just picked up one of the cutest cookbooks ever, Butter by the inimitable Dorie Greenspan, and that is just one of the many things I learned from this 48-page cook booklet. Part of the Short Stack editions, which includes small-format cookbooks on topics ranging from apples to tahini, Butter has about two dozen recipes featuring or making great use of butter. There is a section that reviews butter basics, as well. One of my favorite recipes is the butter-roasted spiced almonds. They just might find their way into someone’s stocking this year, along with a gift-wrapped copy of the book.
