Create a More Inclusive World
The Nest is a small cafe in downtown Deep River that has developed a cozy atmosphere with soft colors, comfy couches, and a cute little book nook. The Nest is also a non-profit organization with kind staff, an understanding boss, and people who understand the struggles of being neurodiverse in a neurotypical world. Interns also get a job coach who teaches you the basics of the job before you start working on your own, which makes adjusting far easier. How do I know all of this? Well, I was an intern at The Nest, and before that, my mom, my sibling, and I were frequent customers, so I can tell you about The Nest from the perspective of the customer and the employee!
As a customer of The Nest, I know they serve both sweet and savory foods. An example of the sweet pastries is the rustic berry tart, which is filled to the brim with beautiful ruby red berry filling and gently held by a lovely golden-brown crust. Each bite of the rustic berry tart coats your tongue in sweet berries, and it’s a treat I highly recommend! The savory foods are quite good as well, with options ranging from quiches, falafels, and “cowboy caviar.” The foods aren’t really the main attraction, though; the drinks are where they shine! They have a wide selection of drinks, with coffee, tea, smoothies, and ice cream floats. I personally like their iced fruit tea, though I also like their affogato, which is ice cream and espresso.
Overall, the place is great if you want somewhere to relax and have a cup of coffee. I highly recommend coming here to eat good food, drink genuine coffee, and support their cause to create a more inclusive world for us to live in.
