Where is the Compassion and Kindness?

I did not attend either of the meetings concerning the methadone clinic. However, I must respond to the letter written by Jill Paglino ("Much Too Good," March 28) referencing the rude comment by an attendee, "Well, you obviously weren't a very good father," in response to his son being helped by methadone. The ignorance of that statement is appalling at least and offensive at best. Unfortunately, that attitude is pervasive in our community and society at large. Perhaps educating oneself about the disease of addiction is in order. Where is the compassion and kindness that was so prevalent in this community?
