A Wonderful and Giving Community

On March 13, staff from Deep River Elementary School (DRES), along with the staff of Marker 37, participated in a fundraising event called Tip-A-Teacher to benefit The Nest and Deep River Fire Department. DRES staff assisted by being waiters and waitresses, bussing tables, and even making balloon animals! The Tip-A-Teacher tips, along with proceeds from a raffle, were donated directly to The Nest and the fire department.

I would like to give special thanks to Marker 37 for hosting this event, as well as the following members of DRES for donating their time to make this event such a success: Jess Aurilio, Karen Beni, Tanisha Bergeron, Peggy Caffrey, Allie Daly, Stephanie Gilloran, Laura Kasprow, Dana Kerop, Angie, Kingston, Cindy Knudsen, Karen Macaione, Ashley Masi, Jackie Meislitzer, Vanessa Oliveri, Andrea Ricci, Jill Shakun, Robert Solerno, Gina Sopneski, Lisa Tenbrunsel, Josh Torchia, Adam Traxler, and Katie Vreeland.

I would also like to recognize the businesses who generously donated gift certificates and/or merchandise for the raffle that was held: Celebrations, Deep River Pizza, Adams Supermarket, Centerbrook Pizza, Face Arts, Hally Jo’s Corner Cafe, A Style Above, Anchor and Compass, Compass Rose, Deep River Roasters, Salon 154, Moravela’s, The Red House, Flip Flop Gymnastics, Savour Cafe, The Essex Police Department, DaVinci Pizza, Bun on the Run, Reliable Cleaners, Honeycone Craft Ice Cream, Deep River Home, Marker 37, River Tavern, Chambo’s Italian Deli, The Wheat Market, and Jewelry by Laura Kasprow.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed some great food and fun! You were all so generous with your donations. At the end of the night, we raised over $2,300!

Thanks to everyone involved in making our Tip-A-Teacher event such a success and proving, once again, what a wonderful and giving community the tri-town area is!
