Be Not Afraid

I attended the informational meeting on Feb. 27 and heard the fears and anxieties of residents about the APT Foundation clinic, which will open on Route 1 in Guilford sometime this summer. Although I do not share these sentiments, I understand these concerns as a parent and grandparent.

I teach at a university, so I am blessed to get to know your young adult children and grandchildren - and they are wonderful. I think one way we can help them is to be less afraid and offer more assurance that the world is not a scary place – and that, yes, we are concerned about this clinic coming to our town; we do worry about all kinds of things as we try to help you become successful, thoughtful, and caring adults - but we think we can find a way to be open to this change, to open our hearts to people in need so that you know if you ever in your adult life need help of any kind, there are communities of caring people all over the world… so be not afraid.
