Let’s Welcome Access to Care

Access to effective addiction treatment is essential to building strong families and communities. APT Foundation's plans to open a clinic on Boston Post Road in Guilford to provide care for our community members who are suffering from the treatable, chronic disease of addiction should be facilitated and welcomed by all who live here. The opiate epidemic will affect each one of us either directly or indirectly through family, friends, or co-workers, and its impact is lifelong trauma for all. APT has effective care to offer. I write this as someone whose family member's life was saved by APT's program.

My recent experience showed that it is not accurate to call APT a "methadone clinic," as methadone is not the only medication provided by APT to help individuals recover from addiction. Science-based utilization of a variety of medications, such as Vivitrol and Suboxone, as well as others, are now at the forefront of addiction medicine, and APT offers cutting-edge protocols to create a supportive, effective environment to help those in need. This includes counseling and access to primary care, completing the comprehensive approach every human requires to recover from any chronic disease. Let's welcome humane, compassionate, effective access to care into our community.
