Self-Serving

Guilford Public Schools (GPS) Superintendent Dr. Paul Freeman’s self-serving approach to school administration is to foster a climate of groupthink by hiring incompetent consultants at taxpayer expense who tell him what he wants to hear, telling teachers how to think, and misinforming teachers and parents through a school website and a closed email communication system. This was exemplified in recent months by Freeman’s attack on Dave Holman’s letters, using the closed GPS communication system, to which Mr. Holman was denied the ability to respond.

Clearly, it is not within Freeman’s power to shut down the voice of any Guilford taxpayer.

Freeman’s recent “Our Direction” column on the taxpayer-financed website and his frequent emails to the closed system are direct and rather pathetic responses to the detailed and devasting critique of his administration by former Branford school superintendent Dr. Armand Fusco.

That critique appears in two recent publications: Fusco’s comprehensive book on school safety, Does Your Child Attend a Safe School? No!, which addresses the maladministration of the Guilford Public Schools. His second book, Are Guilford, Connecticut Schools Headed in the Wrong Direction?, published through the auspices of the Greater Education Council of Connecticut (GECC), provides a summary of four of Fusco’s books, either in print or in production and available for download on the GECC website www.greatereducationcouncilofct.org under “Resources” and “Books …” Guilford parents should also watch the incisive interview with Dr. Fusco on the GECC web site.

Dr. Fusco has been addressing issues of school corruption, school safety, and the plight of black children in public schools far longer, with far greater depth and understanding than the radical, unethical, and incompetent man now in charge of our children who is now psychologically mired in the quagmire of his own ineptitude.
