Grateful for Trust and Support

I commend First Selectman Matt Hoey for dedicating American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to Guilford nonprofit agencies and also Liza Petra, executive director of The Guilford Foundation, and the ARPA Review Committee for their dedicated work in allocating this money. Board members of the Guilford Foundation formed a 13-member committee with members from the Foundation board, community representatives, and a Connecticut-based ARPA expert for the granting process. They all volunteered countless hours in soliciting applications and diligently reviewed the 36 responses they received; their work demanded several meetings to make arduous decisions about allocating money for each of the 34 agencies they funded.

With money granted to Shoreline Village Connecticut, like all of the other recipients who suffered financial decline during the COVID-19 epidemic, we can regain our footing and better serve more seniors who are aging in their own homes. We are very grateful for the trust and support given us by the grantees with their award. Guilford thrives on the many and varied nonprofits that serve our community, and with the help of the Guilford Foundation, the grant recipients will be planning for a rejuvenating year ahead.
