Look Up and Send Kudos

We owe a big debt of thanks to First Selectman Peggy Lyons and the entire board for bringing the long-standing issue of downtown utility poles to a near close. Madison’s business district looks so much more attractive, inviting, and less cluttered now that almost all have been removed. It makes one realize how much nicer local vistas would be if more of our overhead wires were underground and poles were removed. We’d have fewer outages, too. I recognize there are some last steps still to be completed with poles nearest the fire station. But this has been a protracted slog through legal and technical barriers. When next downtown, I recommend you look up, notice the clear, unwired sky, and send kudos to all who stayed the course and got it done for us.
