Thank You To All

In early August, a series of wildfires broke out on the island of Maui. The wind-driven fires prompted evacuation, caused lots of damage, and took the lives of at least 98 people. With such destruction and devastation present, the Old Saybrook Rotary Club decided it was time to start raising money to help out those in need. The Old Saybrook Rotary would like to thank all those who donated to this cause, as well as the individuals and schools that contributed to our fundraising efforts.

Our Summer Concert Series on the Green was just the beginning of fundraising efforts, with so many generous community members who donated at the concerts. The Chamber of Commerce stepped up and donated $1000.00 to our cause, while the Rotary Golf Tournament, Arts and Crafts Festival, and macaroni dinner generated funds from many individuals who donated. Private businesses like Custom Designs & Embroidery earmarked a percentage of sales to the Maui cause, and Rotarians donated weekly Happy Bucks to the fund. Finally, we give additional thanks to all our young people at Old Saybrook High School for

contributing proceeds from the sales of their Maui Strong t-shirts, as well as Westbrook High School for designating a Maui/Hawaiian Spirit Day.

The Old Saybrook Rotary Club has also announced that the Club will match dollar for dollar up to $ 5,000.00 to this worthy cause. All money raised will be sent to the local Rotary clubs in the Maui area to provide needed help to individuals. Donations can still be made by sending a check to Old Saybrook Rotary Club, PO Box 1925, Old Saybrook, CT. 06475. Please note “Maui donation” in the memo portion.

Thank you to all who contribute!
