Stay the Course

Serving as Madison’s first selectwoman these last four years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. If reelected, I will leverage my experience as current town leader, proven crisis manager, and experienced finance professional to continue to serve our residents with integrity and offer a responsible, positive vision for our future.

Together with my fellow Democratic Selectmen Al Goldberg and Scott Murphy, we have a proven track record of moving projects and policies forward that have laid dormant for years, all while working together with Democrats and Republicans to deliver better government to our residents. Under this administration, a vast majority of decisions made by the Board of Selectmen have been unanimous and endorsed by voters, including the School Renewal Plan, Academy, sale of Island Avenue School, and a new Town Charter.

We’ve also kept us fiscally sound, despite great economic uncertainty, by controlling budget growth, improving town operations, maintaining our premier credit rating, and targeting grants to replace local tax dollars. Since taking office, I’m proud that Madison has been awarded a record $13.7 million in state and federal funds, saving Madison taxpayers millions, and we’ve kept taxes stable with an average annual tax rate change of only 1.4%.

Now, in a third term, we will ensure completion of important capital projects that were initiated with bi-partisan support and promised to voters, making smart investment decisions today rather than pushing them off to tomorrow. This will include working collaboratively with all Town boards to implement a new, community-driven strategic plan to address major challenges like climate change, housing affordability, and changing demographics.

It’s been an inspiring journey these last four years with lots of challenges ahead. Let’s stay the course with a proven leadership team by honoring us with your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
