Leadership is Commendable

I am a current senior at Daniel Hang High School (DHHS), and during this time of college application, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for all the remarkable work that the Board of Education (BOE) does. I feel very well prepared for college, and this is in no small part due to the tireless efforts of the BOE. I have the privilege of being friends with Seth Klaskin’s daughter, and some of our conversations have allowed me to gain insight into the important issues that the BOE addresses. I admire the work that Mr. Klaskin has done to make our school system so strong.

Though I may not be privy to the full extent of Mr. Klaskin’s contributions to the BOE, I can speak to the ones I have witnessed and been directly impacted by. As a high school student who experienced the challenges of the pandemic, I am acutely aware of the mental health crisis that emerged during this time. Mr. Klaskin’s dedication to prioritizing our well-being and addressing these issues has been nothing short of inspiring. His commitment to enhancing our curriculum with Social Emotional Learning, ensuring school safety, and promoting civility has not gone unnoticed. It is greatly appreciated by students like me who have benefited from these initiatives.

Mr. Klaskin’s track record, including his leadership as board chair, is commendable. His advocacy for the passage of the Schools Renewal Plan and improvements in standardized testing scores have left a lasting impact on my educational experience.

I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Klaskin and the entire Board of Education. Thank you for your work in shaping the future of Madison’s students; I feel privileged to be part of it.
