Keep Saybrook Shining

Hi there, my name is Barbara Labriola, and I am your town treasurer. I am running for reelection on Tuesday, Nov. 7. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve all of you as town treasurer these past two years. I came to this position with a long history of public service as a former registrar of voters and former town clerk. Having been in Old Saybrook now for over six years and being an active participant in the community, I can say with pride what a wonderful town Old Saybrook is!

As your treasurer, my responsibilities are to safeguard all financial assets and to invest our money safely, securely, and soundly. As Benjamin Franklin said, an investment in knowledge pays the best interest, and I spend a lot of my time reading and studying the market before any investments are made with our money. You will all appreciate that we have an investment committee that consists of myself, First Selectman Fortuna, and Finance Director Palladino. We have made unprecedented interest income in the past 18 months, and the investment committee and I are always looking for ways to keep moving forward in a safe, conservative fashion.

I love being your town treasurer. It has enabled me to grow as a person and keeps me involved in a community that I call home, that I have fallen in love with. Let’s keep Saybrook shining; vote Republican on Nov. 7.
