I would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2023 Friends of the Library book sale on the Branford Green Sept. 13 through 17 a smashing success. An event like this cannot be held without the large number of very dedicated volunteers who work not only all year round but all the volunteers who took part in the book sale from set-up, the book sale itself, break-down, and clean-up. I would like to thank the many shoppers who came out to purchase great books at great prices and our partners on the Green (Trinity Church Fair and Branford Parks and Recreation Department), both of whom added to the festivities. Lastly, I need to recognize the many 2023 business sponsors who supported the Raise the Tent campaign, with a special shout-out to our Title Sponsor, Walmart, who not only provided financial support but also provided a team of associates who were willing to do whatever was needed on set-up day. Their hard work was instrumental.

This year’s book sale exceeded expectations- shattering all past sales records. All monies raised after expenses go to support enrichment programs, activities, and materials for the James Blackstone Memorial Library. This enables all in our community to attend and benefit from these offerings at no charge. For the last fiscal year that ended in June 2023, Friends was able to gift $70,000 to the Library, which helps to make all of this possible.
