Strong Financial Backgrounds

I am thrilled to endorse John Picard and Bob Donahue for the Board of Finance.

John, the current Board of Finance chair, is a certified financial planner. John’s commitment to his community spans decades, having served in elected roles of increasing responsibility, including select boards and commissions, city council, and an eight-year tenure as mayor of the City of West Haven.

His true passion lies in his charitable work, having served as chairman of Start! Heart Walk, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association, in addition to serving the West Haven Breast Cancer Awareness, the West Haven Community House, and Infinite Strength. John was recognized for his work, earning the New Haven’s Finest, Ray Tellier Football, volunteer of the year, an honorary doctorate in business from the University of New Haven, the Greater New Haven Chamber Government Leadership Award, and Notre Dame High School Knight of Honor.

The former chair of a municipal board of finance representing the minority political party, Bob has extensive experience collaborating in a bi-partisan manner. Bob has been a Vice President within the financial services industry, managing a geographic territory that includes and has supported the town of Madison for more than 20 years.

Since his family moved to the area in 1995, Bob has volunteered for, supported and promoted numerous civic groups including The Madison Senior Services Commission, The Madison Rotary Foundation, The Hyland House Museum, The Scranton Library, The Madison Historical Society, The Madison Lyric Stage, Madison Pride, Christ Episcopal Church, The Madison Chamber of Commerce, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Chestnut Hill Concerts, SARAH, GIV and the LGBT Caucus of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

They not only have very strong financial backgrounds, but they also really care about our community.

Join me in voting for these two fine candidates on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
