Skills, Intellect, and Experience

There are three things that a Board of Education (BOE) member, regardless of party affiliation, must do to be successful – focus on the students, support the teachers and staff, and stay out of the weeds. Non-partisanship is critical for a school board to be successful. Jane Wisialowski, a current member of the BOE and a Democratic candidate for the BOE in this fall’s election, has proven that she has the skills, intellect, and experience to excel on all these points.

I have heard about Jane’s extensive involvement and deep dedication to the schools for many years. Jane’s impact was broad, from Parent Teacher Organizations to sports programs to leading the Safe Graduation Night event for multiple years. Managing Safe Graduation Night (fundraising, logistics, etc.) is a herculean task and truly a gift to the graduating class. Her desire to give back to the community does not stop here, as she is also a current commissioner of the Old Saybrook Parks and Recreation. How she managed all of this while supporting her two sons, who recently graduated from Old Saybrook High School, leaves me in awe. Nevertheless, her contributions to the schools and town, together with her previous professional experience in business development, demonstrate her commitment to students, teachers, and our community, as well as her ability to see and implement the big picture.

During the past few months, I have gotten to know Jane a lot better, and I could not be more confident that she is the right person to be on the BOE. I am proud to support Jane Wisialowski in her bid to be elected to the Old Saybrook Board of Education, and I hope that all voters of Old Saybrook will join me in this support.
