Oust ‘The Good Old Boys Club’

At the last election, there was no choice for first selectman. Where does this happen? "Only in Deep River." Of the three candidates, only one received my nod. The other two nothings, I left blank, as they brought nothing. If more voters had done this, we might have had an election. By the way, the two "nothings" aren't running this time around. Hmmm... Although I suspect one may be coiled up in the shadows, ready to strike again, probably silently, anonymously.

Election 2023 is exciting. There is finally a good, qualified candidate for first selectman. We, the people of Deep River, have a chance to oust "The Good Old Boys Club" and get some fresh new thinking and ideas into our town. Our town has been stagnant under the current regime for a long time. Sadly, I believe the party in office has behaved poorly since former First Selectman Dick Smith's passing.

May we never again hear, "That's how it's always been done here." May we never have to suffer personal agendas being advanced in place of the well-being of the town at large. May we never again endure abuse from elected representatives assuming and pretending leadership when it was granted by the townsfolk. May we never, (all the rest that you can add in from your experiences!)

My vote will be the same as the last time. However, this time, I am adding my vote for first selectman for Kathryn Russell. Let's actually go somewhere in Deep River.

Not voting is giving your choice to someone else. Get out and vote! You know they will.
