Show Voters the Respect They Deserve

As our wonderful little town of Deep River prepares for an election, I urge voters to show their support for a debate between the two candidates.

Carol Jones is committed to engaging with voters and will hold two meet-and-greets to answer our questions and listen to our concerns. Kathryn Russell has refused to answer questions in public, even at a meet-and-greet where questions were not allowed. This is a disservice to democracy and makes it difficult for voters to make informed choices. “It’s not about politics” is nonsense since it is about politics.

As an informed voter, I need to hear from both candidates about their views and philosophies on moving Deep River forward in a polarized climate. A debate would give us a chance to do that.

I am a Deep River resident who has volunteered for over 40 years in many different capacities. I need answers to earn my vote, not platitudes. I am aware that Carol Jones has volunteered and worked for our town for over 20 years. I am aware that Kathryn Russell has lived in Deep River for four years, but I have no information on her dedication, work, ideas, or volunteer career.

Just because you live in a town does not mean you are qualified to run it. If you want the job, show voters the respect they deserve by participating in a debate. This election should be based on an informed decision, not on political party affiliation.
