10/04/2023 09:06 AMI recommend Erin Colwell to Old Saybrook voters as a candidate for the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). In addition to low taxes and picturesque shoreline views, Erin believes another thing that makes Old Saybrook such a wonderful place to live is the commitment of so many of its residents to volunteer.
If you’re not familiar with Erin, her engagement in this community began in her first few years here. She scheduled cafeteria duty for parents at Goodwin School. She also ran photo day, the swing dance, and the ice cream social at Old Saybrook Middle School. She volunteered at the Old Saybrook Historical Society, serving on the Ways and Means Committee and developing fundraiser marketing.
Erin is an ardent supporter of local businesses, especially those owned by women. She resolutely advocates for those treated unfairly and is usually the first one to organize help for anyone stricken by unfortunate circumstances.
Currently serving on the ZBA, she will continue to equitably apply the zoning review and approval process to property owner’s appeals, ensuring their changes meet all requirements for allowable use. Erin also serves as president of the Saybrook Woods Homeowners Association.
Wherever she chooses to become involved, she carries herself with the utmost solicitude, fairness, and professionalism. I should know - she has been my wife for 20 years!
