A Winning Combination

I am writing in support of the candidacy of Suzanne Sack, Nelson Rivera, and Jen Voegtli for the Regional School District 17 (RSD17) Board of Education (BOE). These candidates represent a winning combination of professional and Board of Education experience and a commitment to the students of Killingworth.

Suzanne Sack has been a key member of the RSD17 BOE for eight years. Currently serving as Board Chair, she has chaired the Finance, Personnel and Evaluation, and Strategic Capital Planning Committees. During her time on the Board, Suzanne has helped make countless decisions that have contributed to the district’s success. She brings a wealth of professional experience, having held senior management roles in the financial industry, including regional president of a private bank.

Nelson Rivera is another important member of our BOE, running for his second term. Nelson serves as the chair of the policy subcommittee, participated in the development of the Haddam-Killingworth (HK) Vision of the Graduate, and was part of the new Strategic Planning process. Nelson brings valuable insights to the Board; he is a high school principal in the CT Technical High School System and holds graduate degrees in education. Nelson’s two children attend Killingworth Elementary School (KES).

Jen Voegtli will provide fresh perspectives as a new member of the BOE. Also a parent of two Killingworth students, Jen holds degrees in chemistry and molecular biology. She has been very active in the HK school system as a substitute teacher, KES room parent, and active member of the PTO as secretary, treasurer, and committee member. Jen received the Sargent Dingwall Award for Community Service at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School this spring and will make an excellent addition to the RSD17.

I urge readers to vote for Suzanne, Nelson, and Jen for RSD17 Board of Education on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
