Utmost Faith in Her Proven Leadership

I am thrilled to be voting again for Peggy Lyons for first selectwoman. Peggy has been involved and engaged in the community for as long as I have known her.

We all know that she came into office with enormous challenges (anticipated and not) ahead of her: what to do with the Academy School, how to address our aging school facilities, responding to weather and public health emergencies, and maintaining the town’s excellent fiscal rating through it all.

Among the many qualities I admire about Peggy, a few stand out. First of all, she is extremely hard-working. She digs into the work: reading, reviewing, talking with people, holding meetings, and asking questions. There is a lot going on in town, and somehow, she manages to keep track of it all! Peggy communicates – effectively, efficiently, and clearly. Her weekly updates are succinct yet contain valuable information meant to inform and engage community members.

In particular, I appreciate Peggy’s strong commitment to our schools. With bipartisan support from the Boards of Finance and Selectmen, we have passed responsible school budgets these past four years and had a school renewal plan pass at referendum. While there is much to celebrate, we still have work ahead of us, and I have the utmost faith in Peggy’s proven leadership and her ability to lead Madison through the years ahead with hard work, communication, and commitment.
