Honored to be Nominated

As an unaffiliated candidate, I am honored to be nominated by Chester Democrats for the position of selectman.

Much of my life has been devoted to working or volunteering in community relations and communications. Prior to leaving the workforce, I served as a municipal liaison for a major utility, where I was the key company contact for numerous communities in central and eastern Connecticut. I interacted regularly with mayors, town managers, first selectmen, and their staff, keeping them informed of company projects and programs and being available 24/7 to address their questions and concerns. I held similar positions with an engineering construction company, keeping communities informed of major energy infrastructure projects and helping to resolve complaints and disputes. Besides giving me a broad understanding of how different municipalities operate, these experiences taught me how to listen, be empathetic, and find and share resources.

Currently, I chair the Economic Development Commission. In addition to enhancing and promoting Chester’s economic vitality, we are working to create safer roads, develop bike/pedestrian trails, and improve amenities for Chester residents and visitors. I was the liaison to RiverCOG for the town’s first Affordable Housing Plan, and now I serve on their Regional Housing Committee. Last year, I was a member of the ad-hoc Governance Study Committee, working closely with Cindy Lignar, candidate for first selectman, and realized our shared commitment to achieving a more effective governance structure for Chester. Previously, I served on the Middlefield Board of Finance and the Board of Selectmen. I was a long-time 4-H leader, and I currently volunteer with the Horsefeathers Veterans Program at Ray of Light Farm.

This year, Chester voters will be electing a new group of leaders. The Lignar/Bandzes team is ready to step up so that Chester remains the best place to live, work, and play!
