08/30/2023 07:11 AMI have been a registered Democrat for over 50 years. However, in local elections I look to the people running rather than the parties they represent. Having stated that, there is no better person to represent the Fifth District on the RTM than Carolyn Sires. She works long, long hours fighting for all the residents of the Fifth regardless of party. She led the fight against the takeover of Parkside Village by a mega corporation, she attends countless meetings for a variety of committees, and is available to all constituents all the time. Here’s an example of her service that few will be aware of. When the Covid lock down was put in place the residents of Parkside, almost all of them elderly or disabled, were completely isolated. Carolyn went to local merchants, obtained donations of food, plants, and knickknacks, and put together gift packages for each household in Parkside. She and some helpers then distributed them on a Saturday.
She does these types of things without being asked or expecting public thanks. She does them because it’s the right thing to do. I whole heartedly recommend Carolyn for the Republican nomination and endorse her for the subsequent general election as Fifth District representative on the RTM.
