Grateful to Receive Support

My wife Susan and I first made our home in Clinton over 30 years ago and greatly appreciate the friendly spirit of the community, its natural beauty, fascinating history, and many charming aspects. In recent years we have both been active in community work. Nearly three years ago, I was appointed as an alternate member to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) and later elected to that seat. Alternate members are only seated at meetings when there is a need to fill a quorum if regular members are absent. I have a nearly perfect attendance record in order to be available if needed and to continue learning about the regulations and processes involved in zoning appeals. A full seat has now opened on the ZBA, and I would be grateful to receive the support of the voters for that position.

Susan and I have the good fortune to reside along the Indian River, where we witness the natural beauty of our town, and it is a daily reminder of the need to protect our unique place on Long Island Sound. Thoughtful management is an important facet of the work of the ZBA, who must consider regulations when property owners are asking for variances to zoning laws that may impact the environment.

Another volunteer role of which I am proud is having led a group of concerned citizens in 2021 in the creation of the Clinton Human Rights Committee (CHRC) —advisors to the Town Council—where I am chair. This has allowed the committee the opportunity of working with the Morgan School, Henry Carter Hull Library, and the town in creating related educational opportunities. As a former public school teacher, it has been especially rewarding for me to serve my town in this way.
