Something to Remember

I must respond to my colleague Dennis Donovan’s June 22 letter to the editor (“A Testament”) in which he asks us to remember this election season that “under Republican leadership of the Town Council, this town has experienced three budgets with no increase to the mill rate.” Mr. Donovan has clearly forgotten that three months ago, he was the only Republican who voted with Democrats to decrease taxes.

Now that is something to remember this election season: Democrats have fought for the last two years to lower your taxes, while Republicans voted instead to increase your taxes in order to keep the rainy day fund flush.
