Make Progress Easier

When we ran together for Council in 2021, we had several specific goals which we wanted to see accomplished. We wanted to see that the ARPA funds were allocated and spent, as $1.8 million had been given to Clinton months previous with no action. We wanted to see a new purpose for Pierson because the school had been ignored for three years. We wanted to see improvements to our downtown, better communications from the Council, and more transparency in their work. Since joining the table in November of 2021, Chris Passante and Carrie Allen have seen three of the five goals accomplished through much dedication and perseverance. Since their first meeting when they requested an ARPA workshop, all $3.9 million of the ARPA funds have been allocated, and after a July 7 public vote, those funds will be approved for spending.

The three Pierson bids are now being studied by the Town Planner and Town Manager, after that process was consistently and continually pushed by these Democrats.

I now want to see more of our Democrats elected to the Town Council so we can build on the progress we have made. Pieces of town-owned property on Main Street are now being transformed into gardens, but we still have much more work to do.

Now that Hank Teskey has joined them to make a strong minority, they are capable of much more. Now they are actually leading from behind, but their work is a constant battle. Make progress easier for them by electing Democrats this coming November—Democrats who believe that problems can indeed be solved.
