Gratitude for a Joyous Event

As chair of the Friends of the Guilford Free Library’s holiday sale in December, I want to express my gratitude to everyone, young and old, who contributed to the success of this year’s joyous event. The preschoolers from the Guilford Center for Children created colorful decorations for the Library’s lobby. The Camerata Singers from Adams School led by Dawn Emerman delighted shoppers with familiar holiday songs and their youthful enthusiasm. Peer Helpers from Adams School and scouts from Troops 475 and 471 assisted both indoors and out. Instrumentalists Christine Cohen, Mimi Dudley, and Amanda Merrill shared their musical talents. Since last year’s sale, volunteers from the Friends sorted through tons of donations to find perfect gifts for readers of all ages.

Above all, members of the community came out to support the Library; not even a day of heavy rain kept them home. We thank all of them for their gifts of time, effort, and energy.

The proceeds from this and all of the Friends’ sales are used to purchase books and equipment, support programs, and fund enrichment for the Library staff. Please consider joining the Friends or donating gently used books, ephemera, prints, or maps for future sales.
