Working to Protect Democracy

With so much talk going on these days about voting rights and the importance of voting and different voting laws, I’m glad that state Senator Christine Cohen and State Representative John-Michael Parker are working to protect democracy for everyone right here in Connecticut.

There are so many little things that legislators can do to ensure that a person’s voice is heard, and Christine and John-Michael have a 100 percent voting record when it comes to voting rights. In 2019, Christine passed an early voting measure that we can all vote on this November so Connecticut can join most every other state in America in no-excuses early voting. Since John-Michael joined the legislature in 2021, they have worked to create automatic voter registration when someone uses various state agencies like the DMV, and during the COVID-19 pandemic they ensured people — especially older people — could still vote by absentee ballot.

When I think about America and our democracy the thing that comes to mind is one person, one vote. I’m glad I have a representation in Hartford who believe in and fight for that, and that’s why I will use my vote to re-elect Christine Cohen and John-Michael Parker in November.
