I offer my full support for the re-election of Christine Cohen for State Senator. Christine has been a champion for positive changes that can reach all of us in Connecticut. Her voting record is admirable and demonstrates that she is informed on issues before casting a vote. It also shows that she doesn’t just give lip service — she is a leader who takes action.

Through my own advocacy as a board member of the shoreline affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness an advisory board member of the State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, I have personally witnessed Sen. Cohen partner across party lines to move forward legislation to protect some of our most vulnerable citizens like people living with mental illness. I’ve collaborated with Sen. Cohen on strengthening laws so people suffering emotionally get the help they need. She is dedicated to addressing our current mental health crisis.

This year alone, Sen. Cohen has voted in favor of increasing regulations of marijuana sales and expanding mental and behavioral health services in schools. She has also voted to make mobile mental health crisis centers available around the clock, increase funding for mental health workers in schools, and to end the abuse of solitary confinement in our prison system which degrades the mental health of incarcerated persons before they come back into their communities.

Christine works tirelessly for the people living in our state. She is thoughtful with her words and actions. She is the kind of smart, compassionate, committed leader our future needs.
