Takes the Time to Listen
As a senior living in the 36th House District, I have been impressed with our state representative, Christine Palm, and her ability to focus on the many issues that affect our community
During the pandemic, I got a call from one of her volunteers asking how I was doing and if there was anything that I needed. I was pleasantly surprised to get this kind of personal attention from a politician!
Then, I found out more about some of the measures that she has voted for during the last session and became even more impressed. She voted to adjust the State budget ending in June 2023, with measures to make Connecticut more affordable for retirees by increasing funding for programs like Meals on Wheels, lowering the copay for older adults receiving care at home, continuing telehealth options, and increasing funding for local nonprofits which serve seniors, among other actions.
She also voted for a bill that takes steps to address staffing shortages at the state’s nursing homes and another to study Homemaker-Companion agencies who provide care in-home.
As a senior who also helps to care for my own mother, these kinds of issues hit very close to home.
I appreciate having a state representative who takes the time to listen to her constituents and has demonstrated true concern for the health needs of older members of our community. Christine Palm is an experienced legislator and we are fortunate to have her as our advocate. I will be voting to re-elect her in November!
