A Local Leader

I am writing this letter in support of Devin Carney. I have been First Selectman of Old Saybrook for the last 11 years, and for the last eight years, Devin has been the town’s state representative. He has been an effective advocate for our town, being certain to voice our strong support or objection to legislative actions. Devin votes for our towns, not as a party-line politician. I know he is willing to reach across the aisle, and he has done so many times. That is the mark of a strong leader and one confident in his beliefs. Devin pours his heart and soul into his job. He is a genuine person with whom it is easy to converse. When the legislature is in session, I closely monitor hundreds of bills that could poorly affect our quality of life on the shoreline. I call and meet with Devin frequently. He is never too busy and always listens. He may also voice a different opinion that what I want to hear, but he explains everything clearly and we can then develop the best path forward. That is what I need as a local leader for our town, and that is what we have in Devin Carney.

Vote for Devin on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
