Walks the Walk

In the upcoming election on Tuesday, Nov. 8, I am voting to reelect Devin Carney, our state representative. Devin is one of the hardest working people I know and consistently puts his district constituents first.

Devin is an independent mind and promotes policy based on 23rd District needs and desires. Unlike many, he doesn’t put party politics or other community wishes ahead of the people who voted to send him to the State Capitol as our representative. He has consistently voted against policies that would raise our taxes, negatively affect our schools, or hurt our local autonomy. Old Saybrook is great because of its people – not because of state bureaucracy, and Devin gets it. He promotes tourism, supports our students, and is always there to help our seniors and small businesses.

He is also incredibly community-based and does whatever he can within our community to help out and promote it. He serves on the board of the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and hosts its successful annual Oscar Night. He serves as Treasurer of the Board for Saye Brook Senior Housing. He contributes as a member of the Rotary Club of Old Saybrook, the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce, and many other local and regional groups. He does all of this while working full-time and serving as our representative. I’m amazed at his energy and positive spirit, but he does it because he loves the community. We should all want an advocate as strong as Devin and someone who truly walks the walk.

I encourage everyone, regardless of party, to support Devin. He’s for us.
