Knows the Issues

I am proud to support Christine Cohen in her bid for re-election to the Connecticut Senate. Sen. Cohen has proved year after year to be a leader in the State Senate. Voters can trust that Christine knows the issues that face Connecticut and has a plan to address them.

In particular, I have seen Cohen’s work bring Connecticut to the forefront of the national fight for environmental reform. Last year, Cohen led the passage of a bill to ban the use of PFAS in firefighting foam and food packaging. PFAS — manufactured chemicals with very low degradability in the environment — have proven to cause a host of harmful effects on human health. History has shown time and time again that the chemicals used in our everyday products (chemicals like PFAS) often prove to be dangerously detrimental. Despite Connecticut’s leadership in environmental reform, we are not strangers to these harmful chemicals; our own neighbors, residents of Killingworth and Farmington, live around bodies of water that have been contaminated by PFAS spills in the past. Senator Cohen saw a need for change, and acted on it.

And she hasn’t stopped there. As a businesswoman herself, Cohen understands the importance of marrying environmental goals with economic ones. Cohen approved the Long Island Sound “Blue Plan” to combine the interests of businesses and conservation in the Sound’s ecosystems. Earlier this year, Cohen championed the Senate’s passage of Connecticut’s Clean Air Act, which seeks to broaden the accessibility and affordability of electric vehicles. I urge my fellow voters to support Sen. Christine Cohen on Tuesday, Nov. 8
