Christine Cohen voted to create one of the best Paid Family Medical Leave programs in the country — ensuring Connecticut residents don’t have to choose between caring for a loved one and a paycheck. As a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, Christine helped write the budget with $600 million in tax cuts. These savings range from a new $250-per-child tax rebate for low- and middle- income families, increased the property tax credit from $200 to $300 and expanded eligibility to over 385,000 households, accelerated the phase out on state income tax on pensions and annuities for our seniors, saving them $97 million per year and more.

And that’s not all — Christine voted to implement a $25 cap on out-of- pocket expenses for insulin and diabetes-related medication, increased wages for child care workers, improved access to early childhood education for families and more. Christine took a comprehensive and compassionate approach to making Connecticut more affordable - all while making record payments on our unfunded pension liabilities and growing our Rainy Day Fund, ensuring fiscal health for generations to come.
