Combination Needed to Effect Positive Change

It’s my pleasure to support Moira Rader’s candidacy to be our next state representative.

As we’ve seen in Guilford, local issues and local leadership have never been more important or more relevant. Decency in public discourse and the promise of sound education have never been more under attack in our culture. For these reasons we need our government representatives to be principled, informed, and strong.

And as we’ve seen in states across America, decisions made by state legislatures have never been more critical. The need for reasonable — not radical — decision makers is vital, as their judgments impact our public safety, access to high-quality public education for our children, and the responsible protection and management of our vulnerable natural resources including our beautiful Long Island Sound. We need lawmakers who will prioritize gun safety and mental health legislation that are so urgently needed to protect the health and wellbeing of our community.

Moira has varied experiences as a professional, as a community volunteer, and as a parent. I trust that these experiences, in addition to her warm and thoughtful demeanor, position her to be an effective lawmaker. Strong government leaders require a unique combination of relationship building skills, an ethical foundation, and nuanced understanding of these pressing issues. Moira has the combination needed to effect positive change in our district, and state.

Over these past four years, I have been grateful to have Moira representing the interests of my children in the Guilford schools. I look forward to Moira representing us all in Hartford!
