Seeks Tangible Results

I would like to thank Robin Comey of Branford’s 102 District for her outstanding advocacy work on behalf of the deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing community. As my representative of Branford, Robin assisted me to advocate for several issues and took time to hear my concerns, get involved, and foster positive change.

Most people are unaware of the needs of this low incident community of deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing members. At the time of the COVID outbreak, Robin assisted us in getting our voices heard so that we would have accessible news every day as the governor provided updates. Connecticut was one of the first states to offer the picture-in-picture American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters that were on our daily updates. Robin also attended several meetings of the Statewide Advisory Board for the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing, and helped us to form a working committee to discuss relevant topics.

Robin led the working group meetings and as a result we were able to draw attention to issues surrounding Interpreter qualifications, the lack of ASL interpreter in medical settings, discussions regarding Mental Health needs, and ASL workforce developments.

Robin has proved that she is willing to address issues with actions, not words, and she seeks tangible results. I am confident that Robin Comey remains the best choice for Branford’s 102 District.
