Deepest Appreciation

I’m sure I’m not the first resident to experience the caring and life-saving skills of the Guilford Fire Department paramedics. I’m writing to thank them once again. Such words seem feeble compared to what they did for me recently.

When I felt I was having a stroke and called 911, the caring voice answering calmed me. Minutes later, two of Guilford’s finest showed up at my door and immediately began treatment that continued in an ambulance to New Haven. They handed me over to medical professionals who gave me every ounce of their knowledge, medication, and concern. Thankfully, I am much better.

When I pay my property taxes in January it will be with deeper awareness of the value I receive from Guilford. In addition to superb life-saving services, I live in a well-managed town with top-notch schools staffed by educators who give our children a complete education to grow into fully-knowledgeable adults able to make responsible choices and navigate a complex world. Our protective services strive to meet the needs of all residents and our support services are proficient public servants. Guilford provides me with comprehensive senior services and transportation when I need it, and the Town Band is so good it should be called the Guilford Concert Band and make CDs. The only thing we need to do better as a town is to reach out and attract more diverse cultures to live in and enrich our town. There are many families of differing cultures that feel hesitant to buy homes here due to loud voices against diversity. Those negative voices need to be overcome.

Again, my deepest appreciation to the paramedics who showed up at my door that night. It was routine for you. It wasn’t for me.
