A Strong, Sensible Leader

I love living in Old Saybrook and on the shoreline for many reasons, but the natural beauty of our environment is certainly at the top of the list. Fortunately, we have a State Representative who also appreciates it and supports ensuring future generations can enjoy it for years to come.

Devin Carney has worked incredibly hard to preserve and protect our environment and to move Connecticut in a positive – and sensible - direction in terms of clean energy. He started the bipartisan clean energy caucus to work toward solutions. He has supported diversifying our energy portfolio, but also understands that we need to consider cost and reliability when moving forward to a cleaner future.

He has advocated for better use of the Clean Air Act fee we all pay on our car registration – and led the charge to ensure it goes to environmental purposes rather than the general fund. A large focus of his has been to solve the issue of waste. Connecticut will soon be shipping garbage out-of-state to be buried in landfills, which will cost taxpayers more and be worse for our environment. Devin is vehemently opposed to this and has proposed alternatives.

He recently was named to the board of the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators where he works alongside legislators from other states to develop environmental policy. They asked Devin to be on the board due to his leadership within the House and the Republican caucus on this topic.

Devin is a strong, sensible leader on the environment. I encourage those who support our environment, while also concerned about the high cost of living in Connecticut, to vote to re-elect Devin on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
