The Best It Could Be

I would like to thank everyone who helped make our Madison Memorial Day Celebration Parade and Ceremony the best it could be. From Beach & Recreation to our first responders, this truly was a beautiful memorial to the fallen.

People don’t realize how much detail goes into doing a ceremony like this. It is the little things from setting up the podium to making sure the microphones all work, having a fabulous parade marshal in Valerie Ryan, Speaker Joel Miller for such a heart-warming tribute to the Ukraine, the Honor Guard led by Wally Stone, and band under the direction of John Gage. Thanks go to Madeline Wines of Daniel Hand High School for The Voice, the wreath layers, those involved with the flyover, VFW Post 2096 and Commander Larry Brundrett, and the Madison Police, Fire, and Ambulance departments for keeping us safe on the roads.

Makes me proud to be the Chair of this parade every year. We strive to make it bigger and better. Thanks again go to all Madison, our First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons and the Board of Selectman, and State Representative John-Michael Parker (D-101) for being such a great support system to The American Legion. May everyone have a safe and wonderful summer.

Donna Farrell, Parade Chair
