Leave the Rocks

Most of the trails in Guilford’s town preserves are designated as multi-use, which includes walking, running, and mountain biking. Members of our town’s Land Stewardship Committee, which is responsible for maintaining these trails, have recently noticed that someone, or someones, have been removing rocks from the trails, leaving empty holes where the rocks used to be.

This unauthorized activity has created hazards along these trails, especially for runners and mountain bikers, who may not see the empty holes in time to avoid them. All of us who use these trails would much rather step on or over a rock than step into an unexpected hole in the ground. So please, I encourage your readers to leave the rocks where they are! It’s better for the trails and safer for trail users.
