Stand in Solidarity

As the school year is coming to a close, the Executive Board of Guilford’s Democratic Town Committee wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation and support for the community’s teachers, administrators, school staff, and Board of Education.

In the best of times, their jobs are challenging and essential: creating an environment where all students can learn, thrive, and prepare for the larger world. But the reality is our educators must do all of this while navigating a pandemic, shielding our children from violence, and weathering politically motivated efforts to undermine their work. Despite all of this, Guilford’s school system is consistently ranked among the top public schools in Connecticut, implementing policies that provide an inclusive and equitable environment, and offering programs that prepare our students to become productive global citizens.

We applaud Superintendent Dr. Paul Freeman and Board of Education Chair Katie Balestracci for their steady leadership, and stand in solidarity with our administrators, teachers, and Board of Education as they guide Guilford Public Schools to continued success.
