A Successful Event

As chair of the Friends of the Guilford Free Library’s recent spring sale, I want to thank everyone who made it such a successful event. Despite the cold, wet weather, our supporters turned out to purchase the gently used books we offered at gentle prices. Members of the friends group sorted through tons of books to find exceptional items; volunteers set up, staffed, and took down the sale. The library staff lent professional expertise. Guilford White House Florist donated Mother’s Day flowers, and the young musicians of the Madison School of Rock enthusiastically offered to entertain, though unfortunately they were rained out.

The proceeds from this and all of the friends group’s sales go toward purchasing books and equipment, supporting programs, funding staff enrichment, and upgrading the Library of Things, which allows users to enjoy such items as virtual reality goggles, robotic Lego sets, and digital musical instruments.

I encourage your readers to think of the Friends of the Guilford Free Library if they can donate contemporary or vintage books, ephemera, prints, or maps in saleable condition or to support the library by joining the friends.
