A Different Story

Guilford First Selectman Hoey and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Freeman both preach full transparency and promote inclusion, but their actions tell a different story. For example, concerning the April 12 budget referendum, there was a dismal turnout of only 12.49 percent of eligible voters. I saaw only one town sign announcing the budget referendum was visible, and that was on the Guilford Green. Additionally, every week Hoey sends out robo calls updating every citizen in Guilford on COVID, so why didn’t he send out robo calls announcing the referendum? Was this by design?

Similarly, on March 24 an email was sent to only selected “Guilford Public School (GPS) families and Community members” announcing a “Conversation with the Board of Education (BOE)” to be held on April 2 at the high school library. Not only was it not sent to every Guilford citizen or to GPS family members who had’n’t provided an email address to receive such communications, but it wasn’t posted on the GPS website, and it wasn’t posted on the Town of Guilford website/calendar. It was clearly an attempt to limit the attendees to pro equity and social justice (ESJ) initiative parents and exclude parents who oppose what I believe is Freeman’s anti-American, anti-racist, Marxist, ESJ indoctrination of our entire school community.

Finally, I believe Freeman’s statements concerning the student who came to school wearing a gas-mask were intentionally deceptive and inaccurate. They merely said that he received an anonymous report “that an unnamed student brought a gas mask to school...and there was no credible evidence that he made threatening statements about harming individuals of Jewish descent.” Rest assured, if this student had come to school in blackface or brought a noose to school, Freeman would’ve made it national news, but a gas mask didn’t fit his narrative.
