Heartfelt Thanks and Appreciation

With sincere, deep gratitude and recognition, we’d like to extend our most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Deep River Fire Department.

For many years and until his passing in 2021, our husband and Poppy, Leonard (Len) Tarte, was an extremely proud volunteer of the Deep River Fire Department (DRFD), Fire Police division. He spoke often of how incredibly honored he was to be counted as part of such an esteemed group of community volunteers. Len took his fire department duties seriously—right down to the parade marching!

After Len’s passing, the DRFD returned that respect when they came through in spades to support our family and honor his life and passing. The death of a loved one is always difficult, but when such generous support and kindness is expressed, the pain, grief, and burden of the loss are shouldered just a bit more lightly.

Our family cannot fully express to Chief Timothy Lee, Fire Police Captain Howard Beardsley, the DRFD Auxiliary, and so many other DRFD volunteers how much this has meant to us. We thank them for allowing Len to be a part of their wonderful group, for what you do for their members, for what they do for the community, and thank them dearly for what they’ve done for our family.
