Hand Would Be Proud

Regarding the upcoming town referendum, I write in support of the Academy Community Center and the School Renewal Plan.

We have a wonderful town here in Madison and a rich history dating back to our famous philanthropist Daniel Hand. He donated this accessible, centrally located land in his will to be used for educational purposes: a community center with space for town meetings, smaller rooms for aspiring artisans and future business persons, a gym for after-school basketball, a center where we might share our career experiences with younger generations. A whole host of possibilities exist and no doubt, like the past donation of the Surf Club, once built will be greatly appreciated. We will have the unique opportunity, like Daniel Hand, in the ongoing history of this charming town to commit some of our tax money to enriching our center green space for those that come after us, be it our children or new homeowners seeking a thriving town by the sea with its great schools and beaches, recognizing the financial sacrifices we made to keep it growing.

I think Daniel Hand would be proud. I encourage your readers to join me in support of our referendum for the new Academy Community Center and School Renewal Plan.
