Their Good Work is Evident

When Bob MacDonald created the Advisory Council on Community Appearance (ACCA) more than 30 years ago, it was in response to the near-instant construction of the Henny Penny on Route 1. I write to laud ACCA in its diligent, unrelenting input with the Chase Bank building (next door to the Henny Penny) to help adapt the design to fit downtown Madison. Now approaching being done, their good work is evident for all to see.

It is easy to object to change, especially when you build anything—it’s risk, it’s a break in history. Objections are often angry attacks. The new Chase building shows how a community can help the builders to see what makes a new place a place of pride. I thank the ACCA!
