How Fortunate We Are

Congratulations to Guilford High School Theater Arts Program for its presentation of The Diary of Anne Frank. The production provided three evenings of stellar performances by the entire cast. The students constructed the set, and the set design gave authenticity to this historical and relevant drama.

The final evening of Anne Frank, several of the cast members switched roles so that a greater number of students could be on stage. We saw both the first night and the third night and the switch from the audience viewpoint was seamless.

Each group of students performed with an intensity, and an energy that brought Anne Frank’s diary to life. The fear, the despair, the exhaustion, and the perseverance were all effectively highlighted by the cast. By the end of the evening, many in the audience were reduced to tears.

How fortunate we are to live in Guilford and to have a high school that reminds us that freedom is a gift, and that the refugees in the Diary of Anne Frank have stories that still need to be told, and never forgotten.
