Children at Risk

I am a former teacher in the Guilford School System, I am appalled that residents, no matter what political party, would allow what has happened in this recent Guilford election of the Board of Education (BOE). Our children are at risk.

I believe that Critical Race Theory (CRT) teaches children, in a nutshell, that if you are White, you are an oppressor, a racist, and if you are a person of color, you are oppressed, a victim. This is false teaching. No matter your color of skin, you have a choice to be oppressed or work to being something, successful. CRT is teaching racism. It is teaching hate.

Yes, I am White. Yes, I have been successful. I worked hard to achieve my life as it is. Each of us has to do this. Telling children they are victims is wrong. My allegiance is to the children of this community on this issue.

Pointing fingers is a sad way to impart views. The results of the election cannot not be changed. However, my hope is that parents in this community will wake up and pay attention to what their children are being taught!
